On March 4, 2026, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province issued Decision No. 720/QD-UBND approving Phan Thiet Sun Airport Company Limited ( thuộc Sun Group) as the investor for the construction of Phan Thiet Civil Airport.
Upon completion and operation, the airport is expected to be a launching pad for the development of tourism in Lam Dong province, shortening travel time and connecting Mui Ne directly with the rest of the country and internationally. At the same time, the project is also seen as a driving force for regional economic connectivity, attracting large-scale investment projects in resort services, commerce, and real estate, creating more jobs for the locality. The airport also plays a strategic role in the South Central air transport network, contributing to promoting regional linkages and strengthening economic connectivity with neighboring provinces and internationally.
